Air Travel

Effective January 8, 2007, passports will be required for all U.S. citizens flying to or from all international destinations. This includes all areas of the world in which our ships sail, such as the Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, Asia, Central, and South America.

Due to the new regulations requiring all travelers entering or re-entering the U.S. by air to carry a valid passport, an unprecedented number of applications have flooded the U.S. State Department's passport processing centers.
Normal passport turnaround is about six weeks, but currently applicants are waiting up to 10 weeks. Expedited two-week service is taking up to four weeks.
The State Department anticipates issuing 17 million passports this year, 40% more than last year.
